Manning Valley Neighbourhood Services

We are a 35-year-old benevolent community development and welfare organisation aiming to resource and empower individuals, groups and the community to address the issues that affect them in the MidCoast local government area.

We provide information and referral services, facilitate client access to mainstream services and increase the opportunity for individuals to make informed choices and access support.

Our objectives are to provide aid and assistance to relieve the conditions of suffering and helplessness of socially and economically disadvantaged people residing, volunteering and working in the Manning Valley through education and empowerment.

We are committed to community development processes that utilise early intervention principles to develop projects that achieve better services for our community.

We provide direct client services such as Emergency Relief and Migrant Support. We have a worker who focuses on building cooperative and strategic networks of key legal services and community organisations to address legal disadvantage. Our community garden and community kitchen provide for free meals and participation in volunteering by disadvantaged community members.

We aim for a fair and inclusive society with reduced poverty and inequality. We are community managed and rely on a mixture of paid staff (part-time) and volunteers to deliver services. We assist/support in excess of 5000 clients and services each year.

We are a unique, not for profit, small non-government organisation providing a wide variety of much-needed services to a rural community struggling with social and geographical isolation and disadvantage.

Target group

Manning Valley Neighbourhood Services’ core funding supports a broad target group focusing on socially and financially disadvantaged members of the community. Other funding streams allow us to support specific target groups, for example newly arrived migrants and humanitarian entrants, and clients experiencing barriers to accessing legal services.

Programs

Our settlement program provides support, information and referrals to meet the needs of newly arrived migrants, humanitarian entrants and refugees in the first five years of arrival.
We provide case work, referrals, advocacy, group information sessions and community capacity building.
