SydWest Multicultural Services' Annual General Meeting on November 29 was accompanied by the launch of its Annual Report, a photography exhibition and a domestic violence resource.

Guests at the AGM enjoyed the launch of Capturing the Moment: Images of Making Australia Home, an exhibition of photographs by SydWest CEO Elfa Moraitakis.

The exhibition resulted from a collaboration between SydWest Multicultural Services, English Conversation volunteer tutor Judith Bennett and clients in SydWest’s English Conversation classes.

The images show the shared experiences of refugees and migrants in the resettlement process and the impact that English Conversation classes have in helping make a new home.

SydWest also launched You are Not Alone, a short domestic violence support video featuring newly trained DV Community Ambassadors. The project was part of work undertaken by SydWest’s Women & Families team, part of the Community Engagement division, working to make a difference in the lives of communities who live with domestic and family violence.

Guest speaker at the AGM was Joanna Quilty, CEO of NCOSS, who presented findings from the new NCOSS report Mapping Economic Disadvantage in NSW.
