Earlier this year Manning Valley Neighbourhood Services was successful in securing funds through the Fostering Integration Grants Program and designed a program fucusing on employment.
The program, in partnership with TAFE NSW at the Taree Campus, was a custom designed course “Learn how to run your own food stall” that targeted 12 migrant women from the Taree and Forster areas.
As part of the work experience component of the course, on October 24 the students held their first food stall at the Taree TAFE campus. The stall was successful, with the food selling fast and gaining a lot of interest. It was a great learning experience for the students as they put theory into practice.
The students held their final stall on November 7 to practise what they had learnt over the previous four months.
