In Dubbo, Connecting Community Services celebrated International Women’s Day at the local Rotunda with four other agencies, including Mission Australia. Denise Olmi, Settlement Support Worker at Connecting Community Services, helped organise the event.
Invited guests included Dubbo MP Dugald Saunders and Minister for Mental Health, Regional Youth and Women, Bronnie Taylor. Also in attendance were the Dubbo Multicultural Women’s Group. The event received coverage in the local newspaper, Dubbo Photo News.
SydWest Multicultural Services also celebrated International Women’s Day with a lively event attended by more than 120 invited guests and women leaders from media, government and local council.
Included were Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC, Governor of New South Wales, Mary Coustas, a Logie award-winning performer; Councillor Sera Yilmaz, an inspirational youth leader and Councillor at Fairfield City Council, and Sirine Demachkie, ABC presenter and bilingual children’s author.
Finally, the SETS Youth Group at Focus Connect celebrated International Women’s Day by going out and grabbing a meal together. They also shared ideas and discussed the struggles and achievements of women from all walks of life.
